"A Young Deer in a Tiger's Hand": Time, Patience & The Path To Right Action

“Last few days I had a sort of feeling, a tiger, of a young deer in a tiger’s hand. Deer really can fight the tiger? Can express. But actual fight? Our only weapon, only strength is justice, truth. But effect of truth, justice sometimes takes longer time. Weapons power is immediately there.”—Dalai Lama

Perhaps the simplest way to struggle against the tiger is to personally boycott the Olympics. Don't watch the games. Don't patronize the advertisers. If doped-up little narcissist/athletes want to whore themselves out for China's coming out party as a world-class oppressor (look out Uncle Sam!), don't honor them, their sponsors. or the nationalists of all stripes who find materialist comfort in counting the medals. Do it for the people of Tibet, as well as Darfur, and Burma.

It breaks my heart to see the situation come to this crisis with the violence and the terrible pressure on the Dalai Lama who has always been nothing but reasonable, compassionate and patient. I have been a fan of the Olympics in the past, but I have no taste for any of that now.
